Livin’ This Way features nine original blues/funk songs by Bradley/McGillivray, a blues re-make of “Tennessee Waltz”, and a souful rendition of “Piece of My Heart” (Tom Harrison of the Vancouver Province says Ruth “makes the song her own”). It features the band’s current line-up of Ruth McGillivray (vocals), Sheldon Bradley (guitar), Paul Freeman (bass) and Hoto (drums). Darryl Havers and Bill Buckingham added to the sound with Hammond organ, funky clavinova and percussion.
The album was recorded at Buckingham Palace in Vancouver, B.C., produced by Bill Buckingham, and mastered by Dominique Brethes of Flow Mastering in London, UK.
